This app is only good for one thing. Identifying POIs along a rigidly defined trail/route. The trail/route is defined by whatever guide you purchased. It annoys me to no end that this app can't handle planning a custom route where the start and end points are directly on the trail. It can't account for you wanting to plan a route to some refuge/hut not directly what is accept as that trail, or plan for a re-route, etc. Also, it's super clunky. I tried to rant more but ran out of characters.

I'm currently on a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. This app is a must have for thru-hikers. They all use it. There's no alternative. There are constant updates from the app, and through comments from users, on water sources, trail hazards, camp sites, towns, hotels/hostels, resupply locations and so on. Also, the maps are downloadable, so there's no need for cell service to use it. Absolute must have.

Love this app! I like that I can plan my hikes ahead of time, and use the Google Navigation to drive from where we drop one car, to the starting point of our hike (dont have to open another app!) I've had NO problems with this app crashing or doing anyrhing weird! My only suggestion is to include the symbol for porta-potties (ex: along bike trails, parks, etc) so that I can look ahead and plan where I'm gonna stop to pee! (Strava does this, its extremely helpful on long hikes!)
